Introduction
As new applications for multimedia communications technology emerge, the need for highly creative and effective interface designers of the traditional media and the new interactive media grows. The traditional media and the new media of the World Wide Web, CD-ROM and stand-alone presentation packages offer unlimited opportunities for successful graduates. This is an intensive two-year program. By the end of the first year, students will have learned basic design, typography, color theory, rendering, drawing, brainstorming, copywriting and how to conceptualize by applying The Design Process and Electronic design using PageMaker, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. In the second year, students will work on the kinds of challenging assignments they can expect to encounter in an agency or studio. Projects include advertising print campaigns, television storyboarding, direct mail, logo development and corporate image designs, poster design, editorial layouts, book design, packaging and website design.
Career Opportunities
The program prepares students to work in advertising agencies, graphic design studios, magazine / newspaper / book publishers, printing companies, sales promotion firms, in-house design departments or corporations and institutions such as banking & finance institutions. Students can also be involved in the multimedia industries especially in the area of the web, CD-ROM, kiosks, CBTs, etc. Freelance opportunities in art direction, design and illustration are expanding, and can be very lucrative.
